Men's Fade, $40

Skin fades and tapers in Glen Alpine, near Campbelltown

The Men's Fade at Clipper Culture is $40 and covers low, mid and high fades, skin fades and tapers. Clients from Campbelltown and across Macarthur book their skin fade at Jonah Ataalla's private studio in Glen Alpine.

Low, mid or high fade: where the fade starts

The name of a fade describes how high up the head the shortest section climbs before it blends into longer hair.

  • Low fade: starts just above the ear and the neckline, the most subtle option.
  • Mid fade: starts around the temples, a balance between subtle and bold.
  • High fade: the short section reaches well up the sides for the strongest contrast.

A longer breakdown is in the guide to fade types.

Skin fade or taper fade?

A skin fade (also called a bald fade) takes the shortest section right down to skin, so the blend runs from bare skin to the length above. A taper fade shortens the hair gradually around the ears and the nape but keeps a little length at the bottom, which reads softer and grows out more gently. Both are on the menu at the same $40 price.

What a clean skin fade looks like

Whichever height you choose, a good fade comes down to a few things you can check in the mirror:

  • No visible lines or patches where one length meets the next.
  • Crisp edges at the hairline, temples and neck.
  • Both sides matching in height and blend.
  • A shape that works with the direction your hair grows.

The anatomy of a fade goes through each of these in detail.

Booking a skin fade near Campbelltown, step by step

  1. Choose the Men's Fade on the booking page, up to 30 days ahead and at least 2 hours before the time.
  2. Before the cut, it helps to say what height you want, how short to go at the bottom and what stays on top.
  3. The fade is cut in a timed appointment of around 40 to 45 minutes, one client at a time, with no queue behind you.

Keeping the fade sharp

Because the shortest section of a skin fade is so short, regrowth shows there before anywhere else. How often to come back depends on how crisp you like it; the guides on maintaining a fade and haircut frequency help you decide.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a beard line up to my fade?

Yes. For $15 more, the beard is trimmed and lined up alongside the Men's Fade, which makes the beard edges match the sharpness of the fade. A cut throat shave with a hot towel can also be added for $10. Choose either when you book, or see the beard trim page first.

Is there a cheaper fade for school students?

The menu has a High School Fade at $35 and a Kids cut at $30, both on the kids haircuts page. The full list of prices, including the $35 Men's Standard Haircut for anyone who wants a classic shape-up rather than a fade, is on the pricing page.

Can you fade curly or afro hair?

Yes. Fades and tapers are cut on curly, coily and afro hair at the same menu price, and the work photos include a taper with cornrow braids and a high-top with a line up. The textured hair page covers how those cuts are approached.

Are these real fade haircuts from Glen Alpine?

Yes. Each one was taken at the Glen Alpine studio after a real appointment: a crop with a skin fade, a buzz cut with a skin fade, a burst fade and a taper. The work page holds more, and Instagram at @clipper_culture_ shows newer cuts. All the services are listed on the services page.
